Send from an alias (Gmail send-as address)

Open this in Talisk HQ

If your Gmail account can send as another address (for example a shared sales or accounts address), you can choose that address when you write a new message in TALISK_HQ.

Choose the From address

  1. Start a new message in Mail.
  2. Open From at the top of the composer. Each connected account is listed, and under a Gmail account you see its verified aliases, marked (alias).
  3. Pick the address and send as usual.

The From field appears when you have more than one account connected, or when a Gmail account has at least one alias.

On the phone, a new message goes from the mailbox you are viewing. When that is a Gmail account with a verified alias, From appears at the top of the composer with the account address and its aliases.

Why an address is missing

  • It is not verified yet. Gmail lists an alias only once it has been confirmed. Finish the confirmation email Gmail sent, then reopen the composer.
  • The account is not Gmail. Outlook and other mail servers have no alias option here and always send from the account address.

Scheduling

While an alias is chosen, Schedule send is not available, because a scheduled send goes from the account address. Pick the account address in From to schedule.

If Gmail stops accepting the alias

If an alias is removed in Gmail after you picked it, TALISK_HQ does not quietly send from a different address. It tells you the message was not sent and keeps it in Drafts. A draft sends from the account address, so either send it from there as it is, or verify the alias in Gmail again and start a new message from it.

Good to know: Aliases come from Gmail: an address appears only after you have added it in Gmail under Settings, Accounts, "Send mail as" and Gmail has verified it. Outlook and other mail servers send from the account address only. The alias choice is for new messages; replies and forwards go from the account that owns the conversation. A scheduled send always goes from the account address, and a draft you save and send later goes from the account address too.
